Hey, my Squids!
I have a little treat for you today. Recently, I’ve been putting together playlists for the characters that you’ll meet in my webcomic, Taliah. I tend to listen to a lot of different music while working on the pages, so I thought it would be fun if you got a sampling of what I’m jamming out to while I work. Coincidentally, it’s also music that the characters would listen to! So why not put together playlists of the type of music they would rock while going about their lives?
The first playlist is Leira Orta’s! Leira is a metal head. Not only was she in a metal band when she was younger but she still plays guitar to this day. She’s a sucker for good guitar work but, also, heavy, guttural beats and screams. Here are 15 songs that she would jam to while going about her day.
Fun fact: The last band, Wiltwither, has my friend Joshua Davis on guitar absolutely brutally shredding! I had to feature his band because I listen to them regularly.
The list features bands like Calva Louise, who I found because I was making this list and needed a woman fronted metal band that sang, screamed, and spoke in Spanish during at least some of their songs and now they’re in my top 3 favorite bands of all time, and my all-time favorite band, Coheed and Cambria.
