Taliah Chapter 3 Page 4 Work in Progress #2

Hey, my Squids!

Stopping by to drop some MORE work in progress for Chapter 3. I know, there’s been a ton of updates lately. Just know that Chapter 3 is jam-packed with goodness in the world of Taliah.

This page features Leira talking to Sadie Cross, her friend and old bandmate. They keep in touch regularly, talking multiple times a week while Sadie is on tour or working on something musically for a film or television show. It’s just a glimpse at part of Leira’s life before it all fell apart. She’s just a normal woman who has normal aspirations and dreams with normal friendships and relationships.

You also get a glimpse at more Abaroguian. For a quick little Abaroguian lesson, Leira has Sadie listed as “Sadie Bichua” with the 😀 <3 just being a smiley and heart. Bichua, which you will see in the text that Leira also calls Saul this, is a word meaning “bug/insect.” However, this isn’t the actual word for “bug” and is a play on the word. Its meaning is the same as calling someone “doll” or “babe”. In this context, she’s making a double play because the name Sadie in Abaroguian isn’t “Say-dee” but “Saw-dee.” Leira is being silly with using this with Sadie’s name by making it seem like a Procolish (English) pronunciation to read like “Lady bug.”

In the case of Saul, Leira calls him Saul Bichua in her phone. There’s an insect called the Bichua Beetle, named specifically for the play on the word for “insect” that Abaroguians have. She uses Bichua with Saul to literally mean “Beetle,” which you will notice she says about him in a few past chapters. This is the word she’s saying.

As for the actual word for insect or bug, it’s bichue. You’ll notice on this page that there is a Bichue Eliminato in her phone. That’s the pest exterminators for her building.

I hope you enjoyed this little Abaroguian language lesson and enjoy this WIP.
