Hey, my Squids!
Just dropping by to give you a little work in progress preview of page 17 from Taliah Chapter 2: Elusive Star. In a previous post, I talked about how one of the things I was doing with this part of the chapter was filling it out and changing some of the emotional impact a bit more. One of those aspects was about the tattoo that the older woman (she has a name but hasn’t mentioned it yet) shows off on the previous page. Originally, this tattoo didn’t have significant meaning to Leira other than a tangential association but as I pulled more of her backstory forward, I thought it would be best for this to hold more apparent meaning for her.
Remember back in Chapter 1: Deep Red when Leira recounted how her family, sans her mother, treated her when she became an Elemental? And remember her recalling that her mother abandoned her? It’s time to delve a little more into that mystery, if briefly.
I’m excited to finish this page. There’s so many things about Leira beneath the surface that I think readers will really enjoy as the onion is peeled. Enjoy the preview. There’s more cooking just below the surface.
